As part of the Master Student Festival at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (HGB), one of the graduates presented her impressive research work entitled “Lallemand-e I Die Deutsche”. Her artistic exploration of ornament and camouflage in painting combines a feminist perspective with family history research.
The work is based on the historical and biographical notes of her grandfather, who was interned in North Saxony during the Second World War. In four acts, she explored themes such as camouflage in performance and video, the tension between original and copy in archives and the phenomenon of visibility and concealment with screen printing and 3D printing techniques. The result is a multi-layered reflection on the past, identity and memory.
We thank the artist for her impressive work!
